Teresa & John O'Brien
established the Celtic Cafe' in
May of 2003. When we first decided to go into owning a
restaurant, we decided it would be best to make
the restaurant an extension of ourselves.
Teresa, being an Irish immigrant from county Roscommon ,
Ireland,
immigrated in 1967 to the United States.
I, John O'Brien, was born in a small farming community
in
upstate Pennsylvania.
The family then moved to South Carolina &
then on to Georgia. I literally grew
up in the restaurant business.
Some of
my first memories were playing with the lobsters in my mother's first
restaurant.
At the age of 8 I was already bussing tables at country
clubs. I attended culinary school
at Central Piedmont Community College
in Charlotte, NC. Soon thereafter
I worked in Atlanta for several years gaining
experience and working my way up the ladder.
Moving to Winston-Salem in
1996,
I worked at The Piedmont Club, Buena Vista Bistro,
New Town
Bistro & Bermuda Village retirement resort.
We opened the Celtic Cafe' to extend the same friendliness,
warmth and great cuisine that we experience in Ireland.
We hope that you will enjoy the food, atmosphere, and staff as
much as we do.
"Go raibh mile maith agat"
(a thousand thanks)
John O'Brien

"Celtic Cafe is my place for the best food & fellowship
in town... Speaking as a single individual. All menu items are prepared
as if I created them to best accommodate my own pallet.
I have a genuine love for the Celtic Cafe & it's staff.
I 've even met other horse lovers there!"
